Whether you enjoy going on bike rides or are keen to try your hand at windsurfing, if you’re looking to go on an enthralling adventure holiday you may want to consider booking a youth hostel in Vancouver.

The Canadian city, which is located in British Columbia, offers a wide variety of outdoor activities to take part in all year round. No matter when you visit, or what your interests are, you are bound to find that staying in a Vancouver hostel means you are in an ideal place in which take part in a whole host of exciting pursuits.

As it is situated on the coast, Vancouver is a great destination for water sports such as kayaking, white water rafting, jet skiing and scuba diving. Alternatively, you may want to try your hand at windsurfing. English Bay and Jericho beaches are said to be ideal for those who are newcomers to the sport, although if you’re a little more experienced you may want to put your skills to the test at Squamish.

If you fancy taking a dip, you can go swimming in the sea or splash out at one of Vancouver’s numerous outdoor pools.

Once you’ve had your fill of water-based fun, you may want to return to your Vancouver hostel to dry off and change your clothes before experiencing some of the city’s numerous land-based activities.

And if you’re something of a budding cyclist, you may want to hop on two wheels and explore the city’s Stanley Park. By cycling around the park’s seawall – a trail that stretches for more than six miles – you can take in some stunning views of the North Shore mountains and the Lions Gate Bridge, in what is sure to be a particularly pleasant activity to take part in during the summer.

However, Vancouver is an ideal outdoors destination in the winter. As the colder months set in, the three nearby mountains – Cypress, Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour – are blanketed in snow, offering plenty of runs for skiers and snowboarders.

With a wide variety of courses and slopes available, winter sport enthusiasts of all abilities should find at least one run which is suitable for them. However, if you’re a novice or are simply looking to brush up on your skills, you will find that winter sport resorts in the Vancouver region have a number of ski schools to help ensure you can take to the slopes in style.

Regardless of your interests, level of experience or what time of year you visit, staying in a Vancouver youth hostel puts you in an ideal place to enjoy a whole host of outdoor activities.
